Strict requirements for emission tests: imat at the APAC/SAECCE
This week, from 24 to 26 October 2017, the annual "Asia Pacific Automotive Engineering Conference" and the "2017 SAE-China Congress & Exhibition" is taking place in Shanghai. Under the headline "Development of Cars and Mobility of the Future", Chinese and foreign engineers are discussing the latest research results and innovative technologies. For the congress, 3000 delegates are expected, and the accompanying exhibition will have about 10,000 visitors.
In this context, a special session on "Vehicle Pollutant Test Method and Control Technology" was held on 25 October 2017. The participants discussed the increased requirements and regulations for the development of the automotive interior. Especially the reduction and testing of indoor emissions are of great importance. Can the current test methods meet the high standards and how exactly can we analyze indoor emissions? International VIAQ experts presented test methods and standards for indoor emissions testing. Dr. Michael Holzwarth from imat-uve was invited as a speaker and gave an overview of the legislation on indoor air quality in Germany and Europe. On the other hand, he described the motivation and approach of the minimization strategies for material emissions from European automotive manufacturers.
