Recycling clothes - Sustainable textiles for the automotive industry
The piles of old clothes that end up in the garbage, used or even unworn, are growing steadily.
So-called "post-consumer textiles" can currently only be processed into low-quality nonwovens. And the largest portions of the textiles are burned. This means that valuable resources are being wasted.
The problem: Clothes often consist of blends of natural and synthetic fibers. To fully recycle them is hardly possible, so far.
The solution: The webinar will give you insights into a research project by imat-uve and a German-Dutch project consortium. The partners are successfully developing a new process to mechanically recycle clothing made of mixed fibers without the use of chemicals.
The webinar gives answers to these questions:
- How mixed fiber recycling works in practice
- What kind of yarns and fabrics could be developed
- How the process is applicable to the production of textiles in the automotive and other industries
