In test specification D44 5601 for material tests, the PSA group describes the standard for testing the Velcro wear of textiles (plucking tendency). Method B of this standard is obligatory for textiles used in vehicle interiors (for instrument panels, door trim, seats, armrests, consoles, etc.) This test is carried out using a Martindale device and a piece of Velcro tape inserted into the sample holder.
From now on, for this part of the test, the use of the newly developed imat high precision abrasion sample holder is mandatory. This specimen holder was optimized by imat-uve to enable easier and more precise handling. Instead of the conventional rotating closure, an innovative closing mechanism with a multi-axial spring and metal clips is used. This will prevent the material inside from twisting and wrinkling. And finally, reproducible test results are possible. The sample holder is compatible with all Martindale devices on the market and can also be used for standard abrasion tests.
The imat high precision abrasion sample holder is available in our webshop imat Shop.
