On 14 February the VDA-project group met for their 63th meeting in Frankfurt. Within the framework of the project group, imat-uve has set itself the task to drive the development of the Martindale specimen holder and the Velcro test forward. The repeatabilitiy and thus the precision of the method DIN EN ISO 12947 and the modified Velcro test on Martindale for automotive upholstery fabrics with different measuring points and repeated tests, has been criticized for a long time by the experts of the VDA-working group. Here, imat-uve creates an optimization of the two test methods, which will also be included in the VDA-standards. Inter alia, the process safety, quality, constancy and comparability of the test results are to be ensured.
In collaboration of the project group, there will be a round robin test with the new redesigned Martindale specimen holder by imat-uve. The test extends over a period of one year, and twelve different laboratories from OEM’s and the automotive supply chain are going to take part. The aim is the verification of the specimen holder. The results will be presented in the project group continuously and discussed.
The next meeting of the VDA-project group takes place on the 8 May ahead of the Techtextil in Frankfurt. For the October meeting the imat-uve office at Monforts Quartier in Mönchengladbach has been selected as venue.
